The Inspection and Enforcement Modules manage the enforcement of gaming licenses, premises, and related activities. The ability to initiate a complaint, collect information as part of a case, and perform required inspections form the foundation of these modules.
•	Case management provides the ability for the licensing authority to manage, track, investigate and determine if subsequent action may need to occur based on the license enforcement scenario.
•	Inspection workflows can be used to perform follow-ups on specific activities so that compliance exists, with documented deficiencies resulting in actions being taken to resolve the matter.
•	Hearing workflows provides the ability to schedule, hold and identify results as part of matters held before a decision-making body or appointed individual.

AI, Algorithms & Oversight: The Next Frontier in Gambling Regulation

                       |

Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a futuristic concept in the gambling industry—it is already here, reshaping everything from how operators engage with players to how platforms detect fraud. Personalized betting recommendations, automated risk-scoring, and predictive analytics are becoming standard features in digital wagering ecosystems. For regulators, this rapid adoption of AI presents both an opportunity and a challenge: the opportunity to harness AI-driven insights for better oversight, and the challenge of ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability in systems that are often described as “black boxes.”

From Silos to Signals: Modernizing Data & Licensing Systems to Keep Pace with Digital Betting

                       |

In many jurisdictions, licensing, auditing, and enforcement data remain in departmental silos. A licensing officer may have no immediate access to inspection records; an enforcement investigator may be unaware of recent license amendments. Without a connected system, data doesn’t flow fast enough—or far enough—to inform real-time decision-making.

Emerging Technology Gaps for Government Gambling Regulators

                       |

In our modern era of ever escalating technological advancement, government gambling regulators are racing to keep pace with a rapidly evolving regulatory environment. As the evolving digital environment continually redefines the resultant gambling landscape, technology gaps arise creating both emerging opportunities and potential threats for today’s regulators.
To ensure your agency addresses these technology gaps on a timely basis with the proactive planning and suitable software solutions required, let’s take a moment to examine the key technology gaps that are currently demanding the focus and resources of government gambling regulators across North America.

Will AI Make Gambling Safer or More Addictive?

                       |

For government regulators, the primary driver behind AI adoption is the potential the technology offers to embolden the current industry trend towards proactive player protection. Designed to ensure that bettors can gamble safety without risking catastrophic financial hardships, proactive player protection expects operators to identify at-risk gamblers early on in their customer journey to prompt effective data-driven intervention strategies.

Despite the burgeoning tax revenues from legal sports betting on both sides of the border, several jurisdictions are expressing concerns over advertising abuses, prompting numerous regulatory reactions:

On July 24, 2023, the National Football League indefinitely suspended Denver Broncos defensive end Eyioma Uwazurike for betting on NFL games during the 2022 season. Uwazurike became the 10th player to be suspended in the 2023 offseason for gambling on games and/or betting on other sports while in NFL locker rooms. This latest ban means five NFL players in four years have been suspended for an entire season, a notable trend following decades without comparable punishments in the league. The severity of these suspensions is commensurate with the potential risks for the integrity of the NFL should evidence ever emerge indicating potential game fixing.
